The Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund

Protecting human, civil, and migrant rights is crucial in a well balanced and beneficial society. One of the organizations that fights for these rights is the Larkin & Lacey Frontera Fund. The fund was created with the $3.75 million settlement received by Michael Lacey and Jim Larkin when their first amendment rights were violated by Sheriff Joe Arpaio and they were imprisoned.

They are using the money awarded to them by the United States Court of Appeals in support of organizations advocating for freedom of speech, the rights of migrants, human and civil rights, and civic participation.

They are immigration advocates located within the immigration bar and community groups who advocate for immigrant rights in public education and work with affiliates in the support of migrant rights.

The Coalicion de Derechos Humanos

The translation of the Coalicion de Derechos Humanos is The Human Rights Coalition. This is a grassroots organization that is promoting the respect of civil and human rights throughout the Southern Border region.

The Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund

This group is referred to as MALDEFF and they are the leading civil rights organization in the nation for Latinos. They believe in truth in immigration and promote social change with the use of community education, open and honest communication, and advocacy. They offer litigation regarding political access, the rights of immigrants, employment, and education.

The Border Action Network

The Border Action Network works with the border communities and immigrants located in Southern Arizona. They will protect their rights and fight for their dignity with the use of grassroots community organizations. They believe in leadership development, organizing the community, policy advocacy, and litigation in the protection of migrants.

The Coalition of Immokalee Workers

This is an organization that formed within the community consisting of mainly Haitian, Mayan Indian, and Latino immigrants who are working low paying jobs throughout Florida.

They are trying to provide protection and better wages with the building of coalitions to break through the existing ethnic divisions.
